CAPP: the Next Generation: a project to support the arts education field by networking the Comprehensive Arts Planning Program (CAPP) committees Initiated by the Minnesota Alliance for Arts in Education over the last 15 years. In nearly 200 of Minnesota's 350 school districts these committees have developed and Implemented incremental plans for comprehensive arts education, all the while enriching the arts life in their communities and cementing relationships between local artists and schools. These committees are currently not adequately served by the Alliance after the completion of their formal 2-year planning process. The Alliance has very limited resources to serve the committees located throughout the state. This grant Is to address those limitations.
The project will develop a system of support for tackling common issues and opportunities facing these "mini arts education alliances" throughout the state: sustainability; leadership succession; declining enrollment in rural areas; teacher shortages: regional economic Issues; facilities needs; tax referendums; and increased demands for evaluation and accountability, for example. The project will also establish communication links with the local groups so that they may act upon and benefit from state and national policy, funding end research trends tracked by the Alliance.
